Far North Queensland | Rural Division of General Practice

Health care services and caring for patients is an increasingly difficult and complex role. The primary health care landscape is constantly evolving. Keeping up with technological advances, regulatory changes, workforce shortages and community expectations of the best medical system in the world is a formidable challenge.

At the frontline are general practitioners and their staff as well as allied health professionals who are a part of the dynamic multi-disciplinary primary health care team.

Supporting them is the FNQ Rural Division of General Practice. The Division is the voice, backbone and heart of the primary health care team in Far North Queensland. Our role is to support, facilitate and deliver outstanding primary health care for our community.

Working with and for general practice, the Division provides continuing medical education, practice support services, and promotion of the value of high quality general practice in Far North Queensland.

The Division also develops, coordinates and manages primary health care programs to support the role of general practitioners and health care professionals dealing with increasingly complex and chronic health problems.
